On July 23, 2014 Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office investigators, along with detectives from the Oceanside Police Department in Oceanside, California, arrested Lindsay Gretchen Sutton (27) who resides in Camden, SC on a warrant charging her with Accessory to Murder.
In late 2013 Oceanside investigators contacted the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office asking for help in locating Sutton. They advised Kershaw County investigators that Sutton had been involved indirectly with a gang related homicide in Oceanside. KCSO investigators were able to locate Sutton at her place of employment and she agreed to be interviewed. Oceanside detectives travelled to Kershaw County for the interview.
Subsequent to this interview and additional investigation by the Oceanside Police Department, they obtained an arrest warrant for Sutton. They once again contacted the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office and asked investigators for assistance in locating Sutton. Oceanside detectives again travelled to Kershaw County and were present when Sutton was arrested on July 23rd.
Extradition proceedings are taking place at this time. Her bond in California has been set at $1 million. She remains incarcerated in the Kershaw County Detention Center pending the completion of the extradition process.
“It is our information that Sutton moved to Kershaw County to escape the gang situation she had been involved in. She apparently had begun to turn her life around and was starting over in Kershaw County where she had family ties. Unfortunately for her, her past caught up with her and now she has to suffer the consequences of her previous bad choices,” said Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews.
Sutton has no previous arrests in Kershaw County, but has an arrest for DUI, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia in California.
