At its meeting on July 28th, the KershawHealth Board of Trustees announced steps it is taking to encourage greater public involvement with the healthcare system’s strategic plan.
Board Chair Karen Eckford and CEO Terry Gunn will be available on Monday mornings from 10:00 to 10:15 AM to answers questions about the strategic plan. Appointments can be made through Janet Sheheen at 803-713-6228. The meetings will be held in the administrative offices at the KershawHealth Medical Center on Roberts Street in Camden.
Once a quarter, Trustee board meetings will be held at different locations around the county. The October 27th meeting will be held at KershawHealth’s Outpatient and Urgent Care Center in Elgin. The February 23rd meeting will be held at the Woman’s Club in Bethune. Future locations will be announced as they are finalized. All other meetings will continue to be held at the Health Resource Center on Battleship Road in Camden.
Also Eckford, Gunn, and other Trustees will be available between 5:00 and 5:30 PM before each board meeting to answer questions about the strategic plan. And once a quarter when the board meets at locations around the county, Town Hall Meetings will be scheduled at 5:00 PM prior to the regular Trustees meeting. These are informal opportunities for dialogue and will not replace the more formal public comment time that is part of the board’s regular agenda.
Trustee Susan Outen, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, noted, “We are in a period of change both in the overall healthcare environment as well as for our own healthcare system here in Kershaw County. We Trustees hear every day how much people in the community care about the hospital and want to know more about our strategic plan and potential strategic alliances. We encourage the public to take advantage of these opportunities to engage with us. ”
